I heard this quote today on the radio "What would you do if you could do ANYTHING and know for certain in advance you could not fail?" I love that! How many times in life have I not attempted something for fear of looking silly or not being as good as someone else..or even better yet for failing. That is one thing as a parent you SO want your children to get...it's not about failing, it's about trying something new. Sometimes failing allows you to learn more about yourself anyway. I want my girls to see me doing things and trying things that are out of my comfort zone and although maybe not succeeding...trying. That is why running has always been a HUGE part of my life. I truly love it. Crazy to some..yes. And you know what..I'm not that great at it. My times aren't great, my body certainly isn't one of a "runner", but it keeps me centered and truly makes me happy. My kids know that I like to run and mommy runs races. Right now the question is usually "did you win", but down the road I really hope they see that mommy does things apart from them and daddy that make me happy. Whether I come in last and barely cross the line..or finish with a PR. It's about doing something I love regardless of the outcome.
