See me in the corner!! :)
The picutres are starting to roll in. The one's that the photographers take while hanging from parts of the course while you run and are totally unaware they are lurking every 5 miles or so. Clearly I had no idea I was being photographed in this one. And the look on my face pretty much sums up my most current half marathon. Tough. I didn't train as much as I should have. Did lots of runs between 5-7, and not so many over 10. I paid for it the last 2 miles of the race. But I have always made myself promise I will buy at least one totally unflattering photo of myself from each race. The one's that make you look 10 pounds heavier than you are, drool running down your face, and your body twisted in some sort of tortured pose. Becasuse this is my reminder that I have it pretty darn good. Yes, I could have run a better race, yes my time was 20 minutes off my goal, yes I overdressed and wore pants (what was I thinking!!). But, I ran 13.1 miles! I have two wonderfully strong legs that hold me up. And I will no longer complain about the shape of those legs, because I am just so thankful they work. This was my first BIG race post "crazy sickness hell" 2010. My outlook on everything has changed since last year, and running has been one of the biggest. I will always chase the 1:45 time in every half I run, and chances are I may never make it. But my new goal is to enjoy the ride, take it all in, and have fun. And that is exactly what I did on Sunday. I had the best time....in a tortured sort of way. :) Every race I run is one more metal I get to hang in my closet and see everyday. My reminder. My wake-up call to enjoy this life, take it all in, and be ever so thankful for all God has blessed me with. And now I get to sit here for the next 2 days and be totally lazy, and not feel guilty for even a second. And walk down the stairs sideways.....that's always fun.
