It is Over

My little Raptor and Brave are done. The season is over. Sigh.....we made it. This is the first time we have had 2 playing the same season/sport. Lots of dividing and conquering going on. Lots of daddy and I high fiveing as we switched around kids and drove to opposite ends of our county. Lots of sunflower seeds, sunscreen, dirt, concession stand junk, dirt, sweat, heat, sweat, and did I say dirt?! I can now retire Caleb's white pants that I somehow managed to keep white. Cue the applause please. Seriously.

All kidding aside, I loved it. It got a little crazy towards the end with tournament games and basically living out of our car, but both Caleb and Grace have improved a lot, and that is what the whole goal was. Confidence was taken from rock bottom to soaring in the sky. Nothing better. And Grace has truly learned a little more about the word "fear". She has seen it stop her dead in her tracks and tether her to past batting mistakes, and she has seen it propel her into a whole new comfort zone. She has learned you have to look it square in the eye sometimes, examine it, and cream it past second base with a smile as big as your face. I have loved seeing them succeed while I chew my nails off in the bleachers. It can get stressful!!

Now I just have to figure out what to do with all these left over sunflower seeds....and bleach.
