11 years

Our little family unit. The unit that began 11 years ago TODAY!! Yep, we are celebrating our 11-year anniversary today. Crazy. Has it really been 11 years? What a journey it has been thus far. 3 children, 7 moves, and 3 dogs later...we are still kickin'. :) I am so very thankful for a man whose steadfast love for me and this family has been shown time and again. I know we are in this journey as a team, and although we have good and bad days like any marriage...the good FAR outweighs the bad. I think that has been the one lesson I have learned about myself that I will absolutely be passing onto my children when they marry someday. You go into marriage thinking it's this fairytale where there are all happy moments and wedded bliss. And those do exist, but there are also arguments and lines of communication that can get clogged with other things. We are more of a team today, than we were 11 years ago. Trials sprinkled with sadness, disappointments in people and yourselves, and raising children can only add layers to a marriage. I am so thankful that our marriage is deep and layered with all of those things, and that God continues to stretch us and grow us as the years go by.

So, today we will be spending our anniversary driving 8-hours to Dallas to see Grandma and Poppa Ward. Our super, fancy dinner will probably consist of a drive-thru meal, and my super, fancy clothes will most likely be jeans, a hoddie, and flip-flops. Can't think of a better way to spend my anniversary than sitting next to a man I love, children I adore, and a furry dog that has stolen our hearts.
