The Orange Bead
I have no picture to show...although the mom and photographer in me is wishing I had taken one!! Yesterday as I was about to begin teaching my first class of the day, I got a call on my walkie-talkie to come to Maddie's classroom. Not knowing what to expect, I raced up there and as I walked around the corner I saw Madeline sitting in a chair looking rather forlorn. I was told by the aide that Maddie had placed a bead up her nose that morning and decided she needed to "come clean" and tell someone. I touched the side of her nose and felt it, and it was up there folks! After some close observation I realized it was orange, and was going to need some assistance in coming out. I knew I needed to get to class, and so the call was made to daddy. He is working nights this week..so he had been asleep for about 1 hour when I called him. I felt SOO bad calling and waking him up, but he made it up to school in record time. After assessing the situation and doing some coaxing and begging, he somehow managed to get her to blow her little behind off. Out shot the crazy orange bead....daddy went back home to bed...Maddie went back to class....and mommy carried on her day as planned too. Just when I thought we had managed to raise three children with no foreign objects being shoved up their noses, we were proved wrong. Lesson learned..even at the age of 5, I guess beads are still tempting to stick in your nose. Especially when you are trying to be "funny" as we later learned from Maddie. I'm thinking not so funny.....
