Rollergirl

We had a rip roaring good time at the rollar rink on Sunday! Maddie and I went to a birthday party for her friend Emma, and boy did I have flashbacks! It all started when they asked if I wanted regular skates, or SPEED skates. From there it was the neon flashing lights, people my age skating and doing that rubber band thing they do with their legs where it looks as if they are part Gumby, hands in back pockets while skating backwards, and I could go on and on. :) We had a good time. Maddie clung to me for 3/4 of the party and then with 15 minutes to go she turned to me and said, "I think I can do it on my own Momma." So I let her go, and watched like a crazy lady making sure no crazy teenagers ran into her. She fell a few times, and kept looking back at me. And that is when I proceeded to hold back the flood gate of tears threatening to overflow. Where does the time go? I always vowed to never be one of those people who say that, and yet here I am. And as I give her one little push each time she wants to break free from us, I try not to let it get to me.....but some days it just does. Some days you just want to grab them and not let go.
