I officially became one of "those moms" yesterday. For most of my kids years in school, I have always been the parent who signs up for the cupcakes or cookies for Valentine's Parties. I then make sure they are the perfect heart shaped cupcakes baked to perfection and decorated just right. And I do it X's 3 for each child. I love to do it, and it makes me happy to. Plus, I've always felt like I stay home with them and have the time to. Working moms have their hands MORE than full anyway. But yesterday while I stared at the sign-up sheet for Maddie's class, I filled in the slot that said "plates and napkins". Yep, took the easy way out. This month has been a "plate and napkin" kind of month from start to finish. In every aspect of our lives. My kids certainly aren't getting the best home cooked meals of their lives this month (or last!), and that is ok. We are just getting by on the basics around here and it is good enough. So, tomorrow is all the Valentine's Day parties at school, and I may go or I may not. Haven't decided. Not sure how I'll feel, and I know they will have fun either way. Drew and I are meeting at school to have Valentine's lunch with them, and that may just be good enough. Tonight we will be finishing up Valentine's for their classmates, and we made these one's above. Aren't they cute?!?! PaperSource has come through again. Love that place. So candy is being put into cute little bags with hearts, Valentine's are being attached, and paper plates and napkins are ready to go. Feels kind of good to take the easy way out once in awhile.
