Rough Day

Jack had a rough day yesterday. A routine visit to the vet turned out to be quite the experience. He was due for most of his shots, but they poked and prodded everywhere and to top it off while they were trimming his nails they cut one too much. We were stuck at the vet for an extra 20 minutes because they couldn't get it to stop bleeding. Poor Jackers! He spend the rest of the day sleeping and as soon as the kids got home they were very concerned about his foot. Too sweet! I had him out back on the leash and Grace walked out and sat with him for a long time. She chatted about her day, how sorry she was he had on "ouchie" on his foot, how she was a little nervous to start-up swim team again, and how she wished she had a friend in the neighborhood to play with. He sat there patiently and listened, because he didn't have much choice. :) I love that she loves him so much. He has become such a part of this family, and we are so thankful for him. The memories tied to a childhood pet are huge, and one's you remember forever. I know Grace will remember these conversations she has with Jack. One's at night while laying in her bed, or one's that she has in the backyard. She chats about the everyday things with him that are a big deal to her right now. And he loves it......
